I'll Be The One In The Hoodie

Note: The photos and links I used from J Crew were causing all kinds of havoc with my blog! I'm deleting them for now, to see if it fixes the problem. I may or may not be back to straighten up this mess of a post. :)

************************

Of course it's not Fall yet. Of course it's still Summer. But if it were Fall, I would start thinking about Fallish sorts of things and Fallish sorts of clothes.

Something like this.

I'm practicing my most angsty look here. It's pretty spot-on though, right?

I'm a method actor, so I summoned thoughts of my recent ten continuous days with my kids. (Cory's had important bidness to conduct for the past three weekends.) I know it doesn't sound like much, but that's a whole lot of unbuffered Silas.

Full disclosure: I have worn this exact outfit for two days straight and saw some of the same people on both of them. Can we still be friends?

I didn't shower in honor of Labor Day. I double-dipped a chip in public. I kept the last zucchini on the vine just to see how big it would grow but all it did was rot. On the way to an outing with my kids tonight I picked up a six pack. Of Dr. Pepper. The hard stuff. Full-strength. It called out to me from a little table by the cash register of the Dollar General. I just like knowing it's in my fridge right now, because I may very well need it at some point this week.

Thank you for listening.

Alert! Alert!

(starts with "claw", end with "hands")

I love my small people. I love my husband. I love my life.

I love my brown hoodie.

Very, very much.

Oh, and I also love this pie. My first from-scratch chocolate cream pie! My first psychedelic photograph of my first from-scratch chocolate cream pie!

Worth every minute, this pie.

Some in this house were inspired to literally lick their plates. But I'm not naming names.

  3. I am considering giving you a pardon for the above comment (you know the one) since you did make a somewhat favorable comment in regards to my favorite clent earlier in the day on FB.

    However, consider this your warning.

Homie can crank it up if he needs to, and I will gladly mail him some stout coffee and have it delivered just minutes before your precious nap time if we get into a pinch.

I love your ensemble. It makes me dream of cool breezes and chai tea with a pump of pumpkin spice.

    Law.

  4. I hear you on the reality of hoodies. I really do have great fashion sense, just not great fashion sense application. Or the money to buy all those lovely things. Plus, I am home all day homeschooling my kids and jeans and comfy shirts sure do lend themselves well to that.

  6. I wear the same thing 2 days in a row whenever I can get away with it. I don't like thinking about what to pull out of my closet for a new morning if yesterday's clothes are still perfectly good and fairly clean. I get it!!!

  7. Shannan, Amy...I'm with you. I'm so much more stylish in my mind. I have a dog-eared Boden catalog on my nightstand. I'm hoping it will inspire my wardrobe choices this fall, but my Old Navy t-shirts and worn-in jeans feels so nice. Everyday. Day after day.

However, I fear I may be unable to look at chocolate pie for quite some time without thinking of the Terrible Awful. (shudder)

  18. i always feel so much more happy after i read one of your posts. they always make me smile. and, i too, could live in hoodies. i bought about 4 this summer at garage sales and everytime my husband asks why i need another one. he doesn't get it. it's like underwear. we can't have too many. plus my dog eats mine and i have to throw them out. a lot. that was gross, i apologize.

oh, i have a blog award waiting for you on my blog today!!

  21. I love all your confessions here, and yes, we can most definitely be friends. Sometimes I convince myself that showering every day makes it lose it's specialness. My dog gets a bath approx 1/mo., and he's always super excited afterwards. I don't have that feeling, I believe, due to over-use.

Oh, and I love me some Dr. Pepper. Mr. Pibb is not the same, can I get an A-Men?

  22. Hoodies are really more than just a type of sweatshirt, they are practical and functional yet comfortable article of clothing.

  24. I canNOT wait for fall weather so I can pull out my collection of hoodies! {why yes, i did just admit to having a collection of hoodies...} And in my book, it's totally appropriate to wear the same hoodie for multiple days in a row. :)

  25. Ah, hoodies. They're stylish, right?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Love me some Dr. P! Oh, and adore hoodies. I have 3 short sleeve hoodies I wear all year.My husband always says, when he sees me in the short sleeve hoodies: Is your armses hot and your chest cold?

    ReplyDelete
  27. oh man. this is funny stuff. our showering commitments sound similar and um... i'm wearing knee socks right now with shorts. cause shorts are my way of fist shaking in the face of fall. but i was kind of chilly. thanks for the guffaws.. i think i just woke my baby. ;)

  34. Chocolate pie makes me a bit nervous these days, but being as I'm pretty sure I'm still on your good side, I think it would be worth the risk.

  37. I love a new grey/purple hoodie that I scored at the Gap outlet for $15! I live in it, even when it might be a bit too warm to wear yet here in DC :)

And I have those same shoes! They're so comfy, though, they slip off my heels sometimes, haha.

  40. The same outfit for two days. Totally do that, too. I try not to see the same people, but it's a small town.

That's my cat!!! Our Rocky looks just like the cat in your angst (very good I might add) picture. Only Rocky has a raccoon tail which is why we call him Rocky Raccoon most days.

  41. You're awesome!! I love how genuine you are, how open and honest you are....we all should wish to be half as honest!! Two days...yep - do it all the time :)

I saw a commercial the other night (can't remember what it was for) but there was a little boy that reminded me of your Silas in it <3 so cute!!!
