Silver Lining Sick Days

All I'm saying is, you know your life has long-since taken a turn for the...unexpected... when in the span of two hours you discuss "zany" new medications with your child's hematologist, contend with significant adoption issues, field a call from a friend saying she's been in hiding for 2 days after beating up another girl, and visit the county jail.

This is the mostly-good kind of crazy, right?

Right???!

Cause this week it feels just crazy. The plain kind.

The days have lost their ever-loving minds starting right around 3pm. The evenings have been long, intense, and exhausting.

The good news is, Silas has been sick. Hear me out.

While it's not good that he suffered a high fever, "watering" eyes, mysterious "mouf" ailments, and a muscle twitch in his right heel ("my foot is pumping up! it's not flat! wahhh!"), it IS stinking good to have a reason to lounge all morning in our "pojammies" without a care in the world. (Pumping up feet aside.)

We've shared a grapefruit (dude can't get enough), read Harold, watched Madeline, played Bingo and just today tried to light the Christmas tree, only to find that ALL of the lights are dead, save one 50-light strand. (If you know Silas at all, you can imagine how devastating this was/still is.)

He's on the mend now, working hard at saying "THink" instead of "sink" and telling me things like, "When I grow bigger'n you, I'll be your boss. Yes I will."

Tomorrow? He goes to school.

Oh, he's going to school.

Bonus happy: My canvas came! Lordy, I love it. They sent a coupon for $50 off my next purchase. Don't mind if I do!

We deliberated long and hard over which photo would be honored and I couldn't be happier with the winner. It feels important to point out that this shot was a big, fat mistake. Spot metering gone awry. SCORE!

If you haven't ordered a canvas yet, DO IT. Right now Canvas People is offering 60% off with free shipping. DOUBLE SCORE!

So, how has your week been so far? Is our crazy contagious?

  2. I felt like I was on the brink all day. I was either going to fall asleep or kick something. And the baby wont stop climbing onto the table and the table is extremely tall.

  3. I have been right there with ya Sista! Though I am hoping to be at the end of my craziness soon. The last 3 + years for us have simply been out of control and I had to say Lord enough is enough I have to have some PEACE and CALM in my LIFE NOW PLEASE! I think my demands have been answered, though I never want to get my hopes up as they are soon quashed! I myself fought and fought and begged, pleaded and finally surrendered in defeat.Maybe that's all I ever had to do Hmmm? I would have given up much sooner but learned much less.So enjoy your CRAZZY it's clearly taking you somewhere....

Hope Silas is feeling better, he sounds so precious! The Canvas is fabulous, great Photo choice.

  4. I had forgotten about da pitty lights for Silas!! How devastating for him!

He is soo cute it almost hurts.

Sorry you're having such craziness. I am just leaving death's door after a weird allergic reaction ON Thanksgiving!

Kinda makes you wish for lots of old folks at the donut shop and the one lady sharing : my kids tore my insides out. One of mmy fave stories EVA!

Hope tomorrow is better. The only thing I like about being ill is lying around in pojammies and watching, lifetime movies...I've just outed myself!

    Keepin it real,
    TT

    1. Now I desperately want to watch "look at pitty lights" ON VIDEO. (Remember that one? Of course you do!)

Your old lady story cracks me up so bad.

Is today treating you better so far? What are you allergic to? Don't say turkey. Tell me it's not turkey. Or mashed potatoes.

  5. Hi There,
I only get a chance every once in awhile to glance at your blog. I just get some bits and pieces so I may be off on this but it just struck me that you may want to look at a book called, "A Meal With Jesus." I checked it out from the library and ran through it and now months later have one coming in the mail tomorrow. Just one of those that I need to get deeper into. Ya know, the kind you just gotta highlight! I think you can look it up on Amazon. I ordered mine from Christian Book. Blessings from a reader in WA!

  8. Your crazy is a bit contagious, yes-lol! I had my baby girl this week-but via emergency C-section. Not how I pictured it. But the reward of our beautiful daughter, Betsy Grace, is a silver lining big enough to happily choose to forget all the trauma! I love your canvas print-it speaks of hope, calm, and a strong beauty :)

  9. At the risk of sounding a bit crazy myself that canvas is the kind of gorgeous picture that you could just sink your head right into? Is it only me? xx

There's only a little bit of crazy going on around here. It will settle down soon and we'll be surprised by the next wave of crazy.

  11. Glad Silas is on the mends! He is still so darn cute even when he's under the weather :) Def an excuse to stay on pjs! My week has been basically husband less because of his work situation. I didn't realize I would miss my best friend so much. Zaney may not be the word for me but totally mixed up is!!! Love the canvas, way to go!!
    Fondly,

  12. Yep. Your crazy is catching. We've got the colds, the kid in lock up, and even the little kid who says 'sink' to match yours. Prayers headed your way from one also in the crazy trenches.

  16. Sorry to hear Silas is sick, but you have a great attitude. I am hoping for craziness today as I am in Guatemala on a mission trip and praying God opens my eyes to see Him at work in the craziness of life here.

  17. I LOVE your canvas! It looks like a painting , and I love photos that look like paintings. Also, I feel guilty about enjoying sick days, too. But it's also nice not to have to wonder if they're off painting the carpet or cutting their hair. They're nice and contained on the couch. It's not my fault they only choose to do that when they're not feeling well. Those photos of him are so adorable. I hope he's feeling much better today!

We're as crazy as ever. I had a feeling we caught it from you. :)

  18. Siley looks so comfy cozy on that couch in his "pojammies"!! Makes me wanna do the same!! It's always crazy here, always!!! Number five started off our week with a fever and runny nose and then threw up right next to me without any warning!!! Well 20 minutes prior she said she felt like she could throw up, so I did get her a bucket to puke into, okay so it was a popcorn bucket, but still - it worked!!!

Yesterday number four complained of a sore throat and neck! Five is on the mends!! Praying that numbers three and two steer clear!!! Oh number one is old enough to live somewhere else....he comes with his own set of things I'm praying against!!! lol

Gotta love the crazy!! <3 and that print - it's BEE-U-TEE-FULLLLLLL!!!!!

  19. If you want crazy, I've got crazy. My world has been upside down crazy, and my heart inside out since my 85 year old daddy decided his Christmas lights needed to be hung from the second story just one more time. A ladder collapsed and sent him crashing to the ground the day before Thanksgiving. Its been crazy ever since.

    Silas is entirely adorable.

  21. so sorry for your crazy week....we're right behind you in the crazy week department over here.
and i could hear your sassy voice, even though i've really never heard you, when you said, "oh he's GOING to school."

    love it.
hoping your weekend is better...i'm envious of the love that you have for your friends...the one in jail and the one in hiding for beating someone up. God is good.

  22. Your canvas is the best "mistake" ever! It reminds me of a soft water color painting. And that cute little one of yours - don't you just melt when you look at his eyes...praying for him.

  23. So sorry your babe is sick...but so glad you had so many wonderful moments to savor! I was just thinking to myself the other day "Wow, did I get through my semester without getting sick?" and whammo...I'm laid out with strep...(feel your pain :) I made a playlist for sick days on my blog today... :) Your canvas is beautiful! Love reading your blog - you're writing voice is fantabulous! :)

  24. Let me just say that I LOVE YOU! I don't know you but I love you. I love your outlook on life. I love your funny banter with us. I love your kids cute little faces. I love that you have adopted (for whatever reason). I love that you love my Jesus. Yes, it's safe to say that I love you. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

  25. Oh girl, we are on day five of snots, fevers, coughs and breathing treatments for the entire family and, wait for it...in eight days the movers are coming to move us across the country.

  26. Well. Do you mean crazier than the yooj? Because I think we have been over the crazy that is my life. To add to the fun though, I am starting my spring cleaning early and seriously decluttering my house. We moved in a few months ago and my love is fizzling. It's not me. It's you. I mean the house. It's so white. Racist, I know but I just can't take it. It's white and cluttered because we lost a thousand square feet and my children are just getting taller. I am buckling down and making it happy. Also. The river that runs through our town is flooding. Right now. It's going to flood four feet into homes. Half the city has been making sand bags for days. Not me. I staye with the kindergarteners. It's for the best.
